Background
Born in Edinburgh, but now living in Surrey, Clare has enjoyed the discovery of silversmithing as a second career. Having spent several years working both as a homemaker and in musical instrument repair, she graduated in 2005, with a First in Three Dimensional Design in Metalwork and Jewellery. Subsequently she won the BDC New Designers Goldsmiths’ Company Award and then two Gold Awards for her technical and design skills at the 2006 Craftsmanship and Design Awards.
She completed an MA in Contemporary Craft Practice at the University College for the Creative Arts in 2007, whilst establishing her practice and exhibiting both nationally and abroad.
One of her pieces is now part of the Goldsmiths’ Contemporary Silver Collection, and she has undertaken a Makower Trust commission for the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
