Artists Statement
This collection of bowls and vessel-forms reflects my interest in the natural world and my response to the inherent qualities of silver. Through hammering, folding, stretching and pleating, the metal transcends the flatness of the original sheet and acquires its own spontaneity. With an intuitive approach to the making process, I respond to the way in which the metal behaves, finding that the final outcome shows itself only in the later stages as each piece finds its own form.
The work also reflects on the beauty that can be found in imperfections.
I am interested in pairs or groupings of objects, their relationships to one another and how they interact, exploring individual characteristics and quirks.
